CAPM STUDY GUIDE

Build a CAPM study plan around all four exam domains.

CAPM preparation should connect project fundamentals, predictive methods, agile approaches, and business analysis instead of treating them as separate vocabulary lists.

The plan below uses PMI's public exam content outline as the scope and adds a repeatable diagnose, retrieve, apply, and review workflow.

Know the weighting before you allocate time

Use the domain percentages as a starting allocation, then shift time toward the errors your practice produces.

  • Project Management Fundamentals and Core Concepts — 36%
  • Predictive, Plan-Based Methodologies — 17%
  • Agile Frameworks and Methodologies — 20%
  • Business Analysis Frameworks — 27%

A focused four-week sequence

Week 1: establish the baseline and learn lifecycle, role, ethics, and planning foundations. Week 2: connect scope, schedule, cost, risk, quality, and change decisions. Week 3: contrast agile roles, artifacts, flow, and adaptive planning with predictive governance. Week 4: practice requirements, traceability, acceptance criteria, benefits, and mixed-domain decisions under time.

  • Begin each block with closed-notes retrieval.
  • Use scenario questions to distinguish plausible actions.
  • Record the cause of every miss and every correct guess.
  • Retest weak objectives in mixed sets instead of rereading everything.

Treat calculations as decision evidence

Know what schedule networks, earned value, and estimates tell you, but also rehearse the next responsible action. An index or variance identifies a signal; it does not diagnose the cause by itself.

Check readiness without inventing a guarantee

Look for stable pacing, coverage across all four domains, and recovery in recurring weak areas over multiple practice sets. No independent practice score guarantees an official exam result.
